Primary School

Being the best we can be

RE

At Levendale Primary School, we believe it is vital for all pupils to learn about religions and worldviews, helping them to develop a deeper understanding of the diverse world in which they live. The purpose of Religious Education (RE) in our school is to enable children to explore what people believe and how these beliefs shape the way they live. Through this, pupils gain the knowledge, understanding and skills they need to engage thoughtfully with questions of religion, belief and meaning, while reflecting on their own ideas, values and ways of living.

Religious Education contributes to pupils’ social awareness and cultural understanding. We encourage curiosity by supporting children to ask questions about the world and to reflect on their own experiences and beliefs. RE also provides opportunities to explore British Values, ensuring that pupils understand their rights and responsibilities as citizens, and fostering respect for those with different traditions and perspectives. To further enrich their learning, pupils take part in visits to places of worship and meet visitors who share their experiences of faith and belief. These opportunities help to bring Religious Education to life and encourage pupils to celebrate diversity as a strength within our school and wider society.
