School Games Awards

Since 2018, Levendale Primary School has held the prestigious Platinum Award for commitment to sport.

Through taking part in School Games events and competitions, children at Levendale:

• have fun and enjoy themselves
• develop friendships and meet new people
• become more determined and resilient
• understand and demonstrate the importance of respect
• learn to develop self-control and manage emotions
• experience being part of a team
• win with pride and lose with grace
• learn the importance of practice and preparation
• learn how to set realistic goals and work towards achieving them
• aspire to improve and challenge themselves.

To achieve a School Games award, school must demonstrate:

• Engagement in healthy and active activities for at least 60 minutes, or 20 minutes for SEND young people
• Delivering and engaging in competitions that create positive experiences based on motivation, competence and confidence
• Supporting the personal development of young people through youth engagement and leadership
• Advocating and engaging key stakeholders on the value of the School Games to support local provision and improve the experiences for your young people and their families
• Ensure there are equal opportunities for all
